Tea Dress Edit

About five years ago I fell in love with Holly Willoughby and everything that she wore. Back then she was getting me through the newborn days with Sonny. In my sleepless state I would watch This Morning and crush over just how effortlessly gorgeous she always looked. It sparked a little obsession with wearing the Tea Dress. Since then I have been getting more confident with fashion and trying lots of new looks. Although I have a small frame I do have wider hips and a tummy so I sometimes feel conscious and end up often opting for smock style dresses.

The recent sunny spell has made me start browsing for dresses to wear and I felt inspired to try the tea dress again after some Pinterest searching. Thats a little tip of mine. If you want to update your wardrobe, start with Pinterest so that you aren’t just being guided by the latest instagram trend. Then hunt down a similar look that you are drawn too. I like the way tea dresses are often a really affordable addition and they work well with trainers. Can we get a Hooray for trainers! Though I guess there is always a risk I could head into Lily Allen Circa 2007 territory with that one.

Dress New Look Bag Rock N Rose (gift) Shoes Saltwater Sandals

This ditsy print dress is my favourite because of the way it gathers around the neckline. it is SUPER flattering. It was one of my late night panic buys as I still haven’t really got many clothes suitable for really warm weather. The trustee Saltwater sandals are from last year. I have them in three colours, white, navy and tan. They are the most comfortable shoes but they do make quite a striking tan line on your feet!

You may have noticed I basically accessorise every dress with either a straw hat, a straw bag or an alcoholic drink with a paper straw. So far that seems to be working really well for me! I have put together my favourite tea dress finds for you below.

I would love to know if you love the tea dress look too?

I ordered the orange new look dress as soon as I spotted it on your stories yesterday! I love a tea dress put 1) I never find any on the highstreet, only online and 2)I’m booby and don’t want to be flashing a lot of cleavage so like to try in first. Fingers crossed for the new look dress 🤞

I ordered the green JDY one off ASOS, and despite my fear I look a bit like a check out girl, I’m wearing it for afternoon tea today!

I love tea dresses. I went through a phase a few years back always wearing them, I prefer skater dresses these days. I tend they favour my wider hips and narrower upper body. Also I found I preferred longer lengths as I got older.
