Entertainment Edit Part Two

Netflix

Dirty John

A very American series that gets darker and darker as it progresses.  It is based on a true story of a man with a possessive criminal mind, who manipulates and commits fraud. The podcast is actually brilliant too and potentially worth listening to before you watch the TV show. I binged watched in a few days. Though I wasn’t blown away by it, I did find it to be a good watch where you could also browse social media at the same time due to the narrative being fairly clear from the initial episode.

Abducted In Plain Sight

A low budget documentary that it hard to believe is true. a story of abduction and abuse with some bizarre twists. It left me feeling really uncomfortable due to the ignorance of the parents. Worth a watch if there really isn’t anything else on.

The Umbrella Academy

This was heavily recommended to me. I have started watching the first episode, which is pretty weird to be honest. Haven’t really got into it yet but I will give it a second go as so many people have sung its praises.

BBC

Baptise

Another great crime drama from the BBC. A story of the criminal underworld. I am only two episodes in and I am completely hooked. it is on air currently so it isn’t something you can binge watch like my other suggestions.

Silent Witness

Series 22 has recently been aired and I feel like it has got its mojo back again. I had fallen out of love with it over the previous few seasons. The focus seemed to shift from the investigations of the crime into the personal life of the characters. Which lets be honest if I wanted to watch that I would be into Friends instead of crime dramas.

R Kelly: Sex, Girls & Videotapes

A really chilling and well presented documentary based on the allegations R.Kelly is currently facing. The BBC rarely do a documentary poorly and this one didn’t disappoint. It doesn’t contain anything graphic but still makes for uncomfortable viewing and definitely gives the impression that R.Kelly is a sexual predator.

Amazon Prime

The Fall

Hands down the best series I have watched since The Sinner. A dark crime drama juxtaposed with a very good looking serial killer left me unsure where my loyalties lay. I was a huge fan of the X-Files when I was younger meaning watching Gillian Anderson is such a powerful lead felt like home for me. Also JAMIE DORNAN. Enough said.

Podcasts

They Walk Among Us

A true crime podcast. Delivered in a very factual way by a chilling voice. (The way Benjamin speaks is almost hypnotic) I love the attention to detail and the mixture of actual footage from police phone calls to police reading statements. Definitely not a light hearted listen but I am really enjoying it.

The Creep Dive

A comical podcast which covers unusual headlines and some of the paranormal. I am new to this podcast and I have only listened to a few episodes but I am really enjoying the chatty light hearted aspect.
