Skin – My Hero Products

If you have been around for a while you will have heard me mention the struggles I have been having with my skin. I have found amazing products along the way and I have been tempted by new pretty products which have plonked me back to start of my journey. I have had some really low days and some days where I have braved being make up free. If you have been affected by bad skin at whatever level you will know how it not only affects your appearance but also both your mood and confidence. I started to feel embarrassed all the time and began each day apologising for how I looked to Si. It doesn’t take a genius to know that doing that for a few months will have a massive impact on your self worth.

My breakouts are hormonal but tend to be so bad that it takes most of the month for me to clear them and what do ya know, I have the next breakout. I have both the ‘painful, large, red, angry guys’ and the more annoying ‘under the skin, never amount to anything but cant be hid with make up guys’. Just before Christmas I was gifted a set of samples from Dermalogica. A brand I hadn’t used since my teens. When I shared the gift on my instagram stories I received so many messages from people who absolute swore by the products.after trying the samples and I saw such a difference that I ordered the full sizes.

I decided to take before and after photos and use only Dermalogica for a month to give it a really fair review. Both photos show my skin after I have showered and cleansed. They were taken just under a month apart. The Second photo shows my spots are almost completely healed apart from some of the scarring and my skin tone appears much more even.

It goes without saying what works for one person may be absolutely the wrong thing for the next but these results have been so dramatic that I just had to share incase they work for you too. I noticed a difference after about two weeks of using the products. Currently I am only using them in the evening before bed and some mornings I use the cleanser if I feel my skin needs it.

Shop The Products

The three products I have been using every evening are
Precleanse £38.50
An oil that you apply to dry skin which removes make up and pollutants. You only need a small amount and it feels gentle despite how effective it is at removing make up.
Clearing Skin Wash £36.00
Contains Salicylic acid which helps improve natural skin exfoliation as well as preventing future breakouts. I sometimes use this on its own in the mornings too if I feel that I have been stressed/eating poorly or about to have my period. As these things seem to affect my skin.
Daily Microfoliant £38.00
Potentially the hero product of the three. Claims to minimise pores which I haven’t noticed yet but my skin definitely looks brighter and as you can see form the before and after picture my breakouts have massively improved. If you were limited to buying only one fo the three then this would be the one I would suggest.
I am going to continue to use these and will keep you updated. I am currently trying some of the moisturisers and masks to see if they compliment the skincare I now have in place. Once I have tried them for long enough to give them a fair review I will share what I think!
*All the products featured in this post were purchased by me though I was initially gifted some samples.

I also used Dermalogica as a teen and it really helped clear my skin. It was the only thing that worked for me but man their products were a lot cheaper back then!! I think I used to pay £14 for a face wash! What’s that all about?!

Haha but wasn’t everything cheaper back then! They are definitely priced as a premium product but its so worth it!

I love the Daily microfoliant. I would also recommend the Multivitamin power recovery masque and the Multivitamin power firm. The masque gives your skin the most amazing glow. Xxx

Thank you for posting this!! I’ve been having serious problems, they seem exactly the same as yours and caused by the same things. I’ve tried varying oils from Bobbi brown, but it seems to have made it worse.
I’m getting married in 3 months and am running out of ideas!

Oh how exciting! Also I have heard that products with Benzoyl Peroxide in is really good for breakouts so that might be good for any emergencies!

    What a transformation!

I tried some samples of those last year and loved the microfoliant. What order do you do use them in? As the microfoliant is the powder one isn’t it?

I’ve been using la Roche posay which was working but my skin is flaring up again now so maybe time to switch.

A friend who’s a beauty therapist and who has worked with dermalogica for years suggested that if you’re ever short on time you can mix a bit of the daily microfoliant with the face wash for a power cleanse. They’re great products! I swear by the precleanse and the skin smoothing cream moisturiser. Also the emergency spot fix from the youth range whatever it’s called. Really effective but doesn’t nuke your whole face.
