The Entertainment Edit

Wowzers. The weather has dramatically changed over the last few weeks. All my summer clothes have been well and truly put away and everyday I seem to be adding more and more layers.

It is making the stepping outside part of living seem less and less desirable. So lets stay in instead yeah?

If you are like me and absolutely love the cosiness of staying indoors, lighting candles and watching endless Netflix series then I thought I would share what I have been watching and listening to recently. (Podcasts are not just for dog walks ya know)

Informer BBC iplayer

A drama about a police informer. I watched this over two days and was completely hooked. It left me trying to work out what would happen next as well as having scenes that made me feel really uncomfortable. Which for me that is the sign of a good drama. I was empathetic with the characters right until the last scene. (Something I couldn’t say for The Bodyguard) If you are a sensitive viewer it might not be the one for you.

Making A Murderer Season 2 Netflix

I am assuming you have watched season 1. If you haven’t then I would definitely recommend it. Season 2 did feel very slow to watch at points. I was even tempted to just google the outcome of the season to save myself the trouble. However I am glad I didn’t as it was so interesting to see the way Steven Avery’s new lawyer was pulling apart the evidence. A great watch if you like to analyse crime. It isn’t the most uplifting thing to watch though so if you aren’t feeling great maybe give it a miss!

Press BBC iplayer

A really good drama that gives you an insight behind the world of newspapers. A short series of just four episodes which I watched over two evenings. It actually caught Si’s attention too. (He rarely watches TV.) I did struggle to get passed the main character as all I could think was when he played Matthew in ‘Game On’ – If you aren’t as old as me you probably won’t remember that series.

Top 3 Podcasts

My Favourite Murder

Georgia and Karen have a fascination with murder and talk about various crimes with loads of facts, a dash of humour and a well placed swear word. My favourite episode is the Gill Dando one and this is the podcast I walk the dog to. In the woods. (I am an idiot)

Hashtag Authentic

A fantastic podcast for creatives. I use this as a pick me up when I am questioning my work. Sara Tasker is really knowledgeable about social media and always has great guests talking about their expertise too. I like to listen to this in the bath in the evenings, almost as a reset for the next day.

You Me And The Big C

I have been listening to this since my mums diagnosis a few months ago and I have found it really helpful. However I don’t think you need to know someone with cancer to find this a super insightful and hilarious podcast to listen to. There have been many ‘spit out my tea’ moments where Deborah has just said things exactly as they are. you won’t find any sugar coating here and thats just how I like it.

Let me know if there is anything I absolutely should be watching/listening to.

I’ve just finished the In The Dark podcasts and they’re incredible, all based on real crimes in America and the subsequent police investigatons/court cases – I think you’d love them.

All Killa No Filla is another hilarious podcast about serial killers. It’s made & recorded by two British comedians Rachel Fairburn & Kiri Pritchard-Mclean, and it’s so so good

Have you tried ‘My Dad Wrote a Porno’?
I was put off by the title but was recommenddd it by a friend and it is laugh out loud funny. Can’t recommend it enough.
Also the first season of serial was amazing. It looks back at an old murder case and is really gripping
