Are you a morning person or an evening person? I don’t fall in either category. I don’t know if there is a name for people who don’t want to get up in the morning and head to bed early in the evening. Perhaps we’ll go with ‘small timeframe for productivity’ person. That has a nice ring to it. I spend all my downtime in my bedroom. It is where I watch Netflix, where I read books and even where I write my blog posts. I’m sat on my bed now!
You may know that our house is currently up for sale, which puts me in an unusual position where I still have the urge to decorate and revamp rooms but I also need to be sensible about investing money into a property that we might leave. The urge wasn’t going to go away and so I have been updating rooms mostly with wall art and soft furnishings.
I wanted to refresh my bedroom because of how much time I spend in this space. It needs to have an element of practicality, I want to feel relaxed in here as well as being able to wake up and just love what I see. We have a view of a large tree from our bed where two squirrels jump around most mornings, however I don’t want to rely on wildlife. I want to look at my furniture and feel like it is going to be a good day. With that in mind I want to introduce you to the most recent addition to my bedroom, this stunning Arlo & Jacob Vesper Cocktail Chair.
I had previously had a vintage Ercol chair for my dressing table but I wanted something that was more comfortable and, as this is the first thing you see when you walk into the bedroom, I wanted something that was more of a statement piece. (And if I am honest I wanted to indulge in my need for pink) It was also the inspiration behind buying the ‘Be Kind’ print as I felt they would work perfectly together. Much like the Ercol chair I have high hopes that the Arlo & Jacob chair will be one to stand the test of time. I am so impressed with the quality and you can tell that it is handcrafted with so much care.
The loveliest thing about choosing a chair from Arlo & Jacob is the ability to choose the fabric and legs combination giving you a product that matches exactly to your personal taste. I chose the House Weave Rose Quartz fabric and natural legs so it would compliment my current furniture. I knew it would change the feel of the room but I don’t think I anticipated how happy it was going to make me. Okay that’s me bending the truth, we all know how I feel about pink chairs. I have been on a secret mission for the last three years to get pink chairs into this house. My husband was adamant that it wasn’t his taste. Hey, what a surprise, he loves this new guy and has been over using it to sit and dry his hair for more time than is humanly possible each morning. I feel that my new chair has completely changed the room and made me feel like it is finished.
So this is how the room is looking now. If we weren’t moving I would want to change the floor to wooden flooring with a large rug but apart from that I really love this space now. There is a real mixture of styles throughout the room but I hope that the common element of the wood brings it all together.
What do you think about the new chair? I cant remember life before it arrived! Such a simple addition that has made this space evolve into something a little more sophisticated and elegant.

Love the new addition and the whole room is lovely x
That hand with your necklaces on is amazing, was it a recent purchase? Just had a search for it and couldn’t find anything. Absolutely gorgeous house, so much inspiration!
