Mother’s Day is on 11th March this year. I am starting with that fact because it seems to be the one celebrated day of the year that I’m never sure of even what month it falls in let alone what day. Whether you are a mother to 3 children, 2 dogs or a 1 cat. (Lets face it Cat mothers are probably the most dedicated ones of them all) Or whether you hope to be a mother someday soon or maybe you have lost a mother, either way it is definatey a day that is full of sentiment for most of us.
It has been known that I am actually not the most sentimental person, often binning the scribbly drawings my son brings home from nursery or the egg box covered in glitter that he was so so proud of. Yet when it comes to special personalised gifts I am usually the one wiping away a tear. The jewellery I never take off has been hand stamped with the boys names, our first dance lyrics have been printed and framed and my boys birthdays are stitched onto cushions that take pride of place on their beds. All these gifts have been found on notonthehighstreet, my go to place for those extra thoughtful gifts and even more so for those really hard to buy for people.
My Love BFF Twinning T-shirt From notonthehighstreet
If you have been reading here for a while or maybe follow my Instagram you will already know that I take a lot of pictures. Some I share online but there are so many that are taken just for me. Last year for Mother’s day I had some professional photographs taken with Sonny and myself and always had the intention to do something similar with Harbor (after all spring is the perfect time for pictures with the spring blooms and bluest of skies on their way.) I knew that I wanted to dress in matching T shirts and found these amazing twinning ones made by Familyhood which will be just perfect. Nothing says ‘I made him, I am so proud of him, I could squish him’ like a matching T Shirt. Am I right?
I was really surprised how excited Harbor was for us to match. He has reached the age where he is embarrassed to kiss me goodbye in the school playground and constantly rolls his eyes at my dancing around the kitchen to Rod Stewart. Yet when I showed him the T Shirts he wanted to wear them immediately. It hit me that maybe having something just for us was really nice for him.
I am hoping to give my photographer friend a nudge soon to see if she can capture some lovely photographs for me in the next few weeks. This may just become my Mothers day tradition. (Next year its me and the dogs in matching T-shirts, then maybe I’ll manage to convince my mum to join me for some snaps.)
I love the idea of doing something a little more thoughtful for Mothers day. I would love to know how you plan to celebrate all those that ‘mum’ this year. Maybe you’ll be inspired by my twinning idea but if not then check out the notonthehighstreet gift guide for more ideas.
