Just before Christmas I headed off on my first proper blogging event. You can read about it here. It was to head up to the DFS factory to see the new collaboration with Joules, where I had the opportunity to upholster my very own armchair. I don’t want to use this term willy nilly, but it is quite possibly the armchair of dreams. (Its also velvet. I know. calm down)
So you can imagine my excitement when on Christmas Eve, this little lady was delivered. I was like I hungry bird pecking at worms trying to get the cellophane off. It seemed even more beautiful sat in our home than when I had seen it at the factory.
The new arrival called for some swift changes to the lounge, both green armchairs have been relocated to the dining room to make room for it. I am glad, as it has given the room the cottage feel again. It also gave me the chance to bring some of the pink cushions back. (Much to Si’s delight.)
I have mentioned a lot of the little extra details about this chair in my previous post. I think its those details that shout quality to me. Its evident that Joules and DFS have taken this collaboration seriously and put time into finding a brilliant way to represent what Joules is renowned for in the form of an armchair. I am talking about of course the rabbit that you find on both the chair lining and the back foot along with the print and design of the chair itself.
It has taken me a few weeks to get around to writing this post due to the dark weather we have been having. It is so hard to photograph this room when the skies are grey. Today isn’t much brighter but I really wanted to show you how the room is looking now. Our room is separated by the remains of a dividing wall. Meaning the area where the Joules chair feels a little separate and slightly more formal. I use this chair to sit and read (aka scroll Pinterest) and drink Tea on the days when the boys aren’t here. We also pull it around in the evenings when we have friends over, alongside using the footstool for additional seating.
I also had the chance to design my own cushion when I was on the Joules/DFS trip. It works really well with the green armchair that I have in the dining room. Although it isn’t up to the professional standards of the the design team, I feel the same sense of pride that my 4 year old does when he brings home his nursery painting that gets popped on the fridge. To be brutally honest it probably isn’t up to his standards but guys… it’s also velvet!
The room feels ready for spring now, as am I. I need those tulips, the blossom that lasts only two weeks on my tree and the sun highlighting the fact I haven’t cleaned my windows.
Let me know what you think of the lounge after my change around, I am always keen to know if you think my choices work well!
*This post is sponsored by Joules and DFS but as always I never work with brands or products that I don’t love. All words and images are my own.
Love this chair and the lounge looks amazing. Your cushion is also way better than anything most people could create!
