Costa Teguise

I have a feeling that Lanzarote gets a bad rep sometimes but for a family holiday it ticked every box for us. We went away as a large group of 10. Including 3 generations of Sutherland to celebrate Si’s dad retiring. Never before has there been so many competitive, pranksters together on one holiday I’m sure.

We stayed at Los Zocos in Costa Teguise which was, quite simply put a fantastic family hotel. It has a number of pools, surrounded by palm trees. Everywhere was clean and spacious. It is only a fifteen minute transfer from the airport (yet we never heard an areoplanes going over) and a five minute walk from the beach.

It was a holiday and I managed to pretty much switch off from social media. I feel so out of the loop now and I’m trying to catch up with my favourite accounts. I noticed while I was away I lost lots of followers. Im not precious over losing followers and don’t take it personally but I did find it interesting that a lot of my virtual friends on Instagram said they had the same experience when they had a holiday. Thought provoking but theres is no way of knowing the reason behind it. Im guessing its just not why they signed up which I totally get. Wow look at me digressing like the best of them.

Anyway the holiday was fantastic and I even over came my fear of using the kids club and let the boys go for two hours on two separate days as they wouldn’t stop begging to go! (nothing like two boys begging to have a break from you to make you feel loved.) I don’t want to be that nervous mum and actually getting them out of the sun during the peak time was fantastic but it didn’t sit well with me as I felt like the whole idea was to spend time together.

We didn’t do anything other than spend time around the pool or head down to the beach. Our evenings were either spent at the mini disco or we headed out for food. The boys always go to bed at 6.30pm at home and it was more like 10pm while we were away so they started to develop some interesting personalities as the week went on! Tiredness gets the best of us doesn’t it.

I have to say I really missed the dogs while we were away. Normally they are left with my mum. (she house sits) but this time we put them in the kennels and all I could think about was them being worried we had left them! I loved being away, it gave us all that much needed time together but it also gave me a kick up the bum to not take our home for granted. Because honestly I don’t think any bed is more comfortable than your own.

Lovely holiday pics! I used to be a travel agent and we would book a lot of people to the los zocos and always had good reports back. It looks lovely, and i think the breeze that lanzarote gives is perfect in the hot weather as it gives a bit of relief for the kids from the high temps. It sounds like you all had a wonderful time!
Really interesting what you say about loosing followers.. that’s madness to me! When i follow an account on IG i like to see whatever their ventures may be, but its something i’ve been thinking of too as i’m off on holidays later this month and i thought i may take some time off from Instagram (i think i may neeeeed the break if i’m honest, as much as i love the platform it can become a bit all consuming) and possibly watch the numbers drop.. we shall see.

Love the photos…and that tan! My boys are similar age to Sonny and Harbour and also have pretty strict routine at home. We were so lucky that they managed a little late afternoon siesta each day so they could stay up late without turning into demons!
