How To Style A Chest Of Drawers

There are basically 5 tips that I always stick to when styling shelves, tops of chests of drawers and console tables. I have styled my chest of drawers in the living room in three different ways but using the same tips to show you how easy it is!

Colour Palette/Theme

Chose the palette that you be working with, whether that is Greys, Greens, Neutrals or something with wider options like Metallic, Nature or Geometric shapes.

Verticle

This is the easiest thing to add as most items you would naturally choose are vertical. Vases, photo frames and lamps fall into this category.

Horizontal

Adding different shapes and heights creates interest to any area of your home. By adding vertical items such as books piled up, trays or low bowls are perfect to do this with.

Plants/Flowers

If you didn’t already know about my plant mission you can read about it here. Adding some plants to a surface creates a more homely feel. Depending on what you opt for you can have something very trendy such as little cactus pots or something more country cottage like flowers in a big farmhouse jar.

Light

This can be by having a lamp, a candle or something metallic which is reflective. Or all three!

First up I have styled my chest of drawers with a turquoise theme.

Followed by neutrals

And finally…pineapples!

All three styles incorporate the tips from above. Although the differences are subtle they are different. Let me know you favourites or if you have any styling tips too!
