Moments Like These

The one wish I have if I could turn back time would be that my husband had taken those photographs of me. The ones where I have fallen asleep with a newborn on my chest. The moments where I looked tired and was still carrying the extra baby weight. Those precious and real moments. Looking back over those early days with the little ones nearly all of my photographs are just selfies of us.

I cant turn back time and even now it doesn’t occur to my husband to just take the photo. I have to ask and then obviously it isn’t a candid, in the moment picture. However I was lucky enough to be asked along to do a mini shoot with Captured By Katrina Photography. I am used to being in front of the camera from my early modelling days and more recently my blog but it was so nice to be on a photoshoot where I didn’t have to think about having my photograph taken. I was just enjoying tea and cake with Sonny and Katrina captured some truly beautiful natural photographs of us both.

We were in the stunning 131 Hotel in Cheltenham. Which has been styled to perfection and makes a beautiful location for the photographs. It not only feels luxurious but also it feels like home. The huge Georgian windows let in loads of light and the sofas you just sink into. I think if I’ve learnt anything in life, its that you cant guarantee your husband has actually listened when you moan about something. This is why I just find ways around it now. If he won’t take pictures of me then there are definitely other ways to achieve the photo album of dreams. Katrina was very clever at interacting with Sonny and managed to keep it relaxed. He is used to being in front of the camera and knows exactly want he shouldn’t be doing. Therefore this was exactly what he was doing. Unfortunately he woke up in the worst mood and I was so anxious about what we would achieve but Katrina is a mum and not only made him comfortable she also knew that toddlers have a small attention span. Thats what makes these mini shoots so amazing.

Although not planned I’m always so happy when tea cups match my top.

On Saturday 25th March Captured By Katrina Photography will be running a day of mini sessions at No 131 The Promenade in Cheltenham. Come along, order some brunch or coffee and cake and enjoy a 30 minute mini photo session. Lots of beautiful, natural photos of you and your family in a stunning location. This is the perfect mothers day treat – the chance for us mums to finally get in the picture instead of always being the ones behind the camera. There are only 15 slots available on the day and they will run from 9am-4pm. The shoot will last 30 minutes, you will need to order food and drinks, and the photos will be a combination of some family portraits but predominantly natural photos of everyone interacting. Cost is £45 for the shoot and 1 digital image. You can purchase additional prints / digital images from your online gallery after the shoot. If you wish to book please contact Katrina here.

I am so tempted as I live fairly near (Ledbury) … but my kids (15, 13, 10) may not “perform” or just have their teenager faces on! I’ll ask them later .. wish me luck .. !!

On a side note … bloody love your blog / insta 🙂

Ah loved doing these with you Cara – you and Sonny are so utterly gorgeous together and I believe so passionately that us mums really need to start to be in more of these memories that we capture on camera. Really excited to be launching these, thanks for taking part 🙂 xxx
