Spare Room

If you have been following me on Instagram you may have heard me moaning about how I wanted to give the spare room a makeover. I want it to be a place for guests to stay but more importantly a great space to use as a walk in wardrobe.

First job was to have banish Si’s clothes to a cupboard where our old water tank used to be. We are waiting on a carpenter to change this into a proper wardrobe for him. Im absolutely not interested in this. His clothes, his problem right? Here are some before photos. This room has been neglected for so long. The previous owners had three little boys and this was their youngests bedroom. Just to clarify incase you thought I’d chose this wallpaper and changed my mind like I so often do.

Its a really difficult room to work with. It would have been fine if it just needed to serve one function (My clothes) but as we all know its important to show a rooms full potential in case you think of popping your house back on right move! Also I have paid for the whole transformation myself so the budget has been tight and its still a work in progress but I want to show you where I have got to with it.

Sofa Bed from Made.com Cushions from HomeSense Sheep Skin Rug from John Lewis Prints from Desenio Mirror from eBay

We painted the walls in Laura Ashley paint, shade Flint. I am a massive fan of Laura Ashley paint. We have used it for the hall and the lounge in shade Pale Dove Grey. It just painted straight over the wallpaper and only took two coats! Goodbye dinosaurs.

Rug (Just seen) from Next Basket from HomeSense Faux Fur Throw from Tesco

These little succulents were from Tesco at only £3 each!

I am thinking when the carpenter comes to sort Si’s wardrobe I will ask him to quote me for making a built in wardrobe where my clothes rail is currently as I’m struggling to find something that will fit in that space. I have just ordered a lampshade from Made.com and an industrial floor lamp from eBay.

Remember if you are ordering from Made.com for the first time you can use my code G5NKX868 for £15 off.

I have really fallen in love with this room and I have started to sit in here while Sonny is napping to catch up on some work. Its one of the warmest rooms in the house and I love just sitting on the rug with a cup of tea!

Hopefully I’ll have some more updates on this room in the coming months!
