Style Your Desk.

Nothing screams intelligence more than sitting at a desk and typing. Even just knowing I have a desk makes me feel a little smug. You can’t really go around dropping it into conversation easily though I’ve discovered. ‘Yes we can make the play barn. Did you know I have a desk? ah ha its true, you see I am very clever’- Doesn’t keep friends.

My desk is from Atkin and Thyme and I absolutely love it. Its so sleek and stylish but has huge draws where I can hide all the childrens crayons that gravitate towards it.

I like to have books that I can flick through when I need to take a break or to think about other peoples writing styles. I have read most of the ones in my pile and I’m working through the others. This year I set myself a goal to read more and I have been reading every night and during Sonnys nap times. I know no-one likes a smug arse! I have a love hate relationship with reading and I have to be in a completely silent environment to focus my busy mind!

These are in my pile with the links to shop them. Hygge here, How to be a Parisian here, Get Your Shit Together here, Made here, Wildflower here and Bloom here.

I always, or as close to always have fresh flowers in the lounge. It makes it feel polished and clean. I guess I just like to pretend that I am living within the pages of Ideal Homes magazine. Mainly because there it looks quiet and there is little chance of standing on lego. My flowers are the Margot bouquet from Bloom and Wild.

As a candle fanatic only my favourite ones sit on my desk. They are the ones I burn just for me. Not to cover the smell of living in a male household. I save them for times when I am alone. I don’t know if that makes me seem really indulgent but its like my special luxury. This weeks favourite is from Neom. Its exactly like lying and having a facial. The smell is relaxing and makes you feel like you are in that spa environment. Fresh Basil being very uplifting and zesty lemon… oooh its just Devine. (describing smell is hard!)

Some of the little trinkets and actual office items are more useful than they appear. My tray is from West Elm where I store all my notebooks. This was a gift from my best friend who bought it because she knows I have a desk and how I feel about that. The little pear stores hair grips and bobbles because when I’m working my hair is such a problem for me. It drives me mad if its in my eyes and can make me lose my shit in seconds.

My Pear is from Oliver Bonas and you can get similar here. The Love sign is again from West Elm which I adore and tend to move it around the house. All of my notebooks are from Homesense as they always have such amazing pastel and marble print ones.

I feel like my desk has a theme. Its very pastel and metallic and I absolutely love it. I just need to find a chair that is both comfortable and stylish to go with it now. Id love to personalise it with some photographs too. I have found these perfect holders from Oliver Bonas that are small and match with my metallic items.

I think even if my desk was at work I would be adding the same items. I feel like I do much better at life when I am surrounded by pretty things. Yet id be the first one to protest if anyone said I was a girlie girl!

Hope you like my desk and I hope you know all about it now so that, you know I can drop it into conversation a little more!

I’m just about to completely redecorate my lounge (well, when my plasterer finally gets HIS shit together…) and I’ve nominated a space for a desk which will be my space alone and certainly not for GCSE revision which is well underway at ours right now. I figure having a stylish desk might just encourage me to complete my tax returns when my new little business actually starts making money. Oh look! A pig. In the sky. With wings.

Love this. I’ve just put a desk in our living room – blogging at the kitchen table was driving me insane. I love how yours is styled x
