I don’t know if I’m alone in saying this but I’m am so relieved that Christmas is over and we can get back to normal again. My waistline has been abused, the housework has been abused and any sign of routine was long gone. So now the days are starting to get brighter but are still crisp, which makes venturing outdoors exhilarating. In that its exciting to get back indoors again! So I’m embracing this month with open arms.
Anyone who has been following me for a while knows that I go on about the importance of spending time outdoors. Well because it makes the little ones sleep better for a start, but also it keeps the house tidy. (my secret is out!)
This morning I braved the chilly weather and took sonny out on his trike. I have no idea why but I always dress him in Navy blue and bright reds. To me they are just his uniform. The colours suit him so well and he manages to look smart (Hair style aside) and they are forgiving colours for his frequent muddy trips and falls.
I really need to shout out about this coat because it has so many practical little features and its just gorgeous. The cuffs can be tightened to keep the cold out and little gloves on little hands. Its windproof, water proof and extra warm.
I have teamed it was some super smart shoes that Harbor already has in the tan colour. They are so easy to fasten and with Sonny being 3 and completely independent now I have to buy things that he can do for himself.
So Mr ‘I don’t nap anymore’ has taken himself off to bed for a rest. I told you outdoors life works a treat! Last year I spent so much of my time choosing paint colours and buying furniture. It feels so good to be at the stage where I can start shopping for little styling pieces and updating rooms.
My bathroom was one of the selling points when we viewed our house. I, like many people have always wanted a rolltop bath and walk in shower. Now I’m here this room has been absolutely neglected and believe me the more you live with it the more of the little flaws you see! So while the little man naps I have given it a mini make over and boy does it feel good!
I have always loved the apothecary style jars in bathrooms (or indeed kitchens too) so when I saw these huge Sweet shop jars for only £5 each I may have done a little jump and clap.
I have used them to store tea lights, cotton wool and bars of soap and I think they look great!
The quest to introduce pink into a house full of boys has also continued. New super soft towels and these patterned tin candles has freshened up a very grey bathroom. I love changing the towels because it can transform a room on a small budget and there is NOTHING nicer than having a big bubble bath and then using brand new towels. I think it even beats brand new bedding or have I gone too far?
The other little bits I picked up were this gorgeous lantern to light when I have a pamper and I wouldn’t be a blogger if I didn’t pick up some marble print would I! So I got this toilet brush holder and soap dispenser.
Im so happy with how much fresher the room looks now. Id love to get round to painting it but I have just made a start on all the woodwork in my hallway so it will have to wait! Plus its more fun shopping to update a room than getting the paintbrush out.
All these new items are available in Matalan. This is a sponsored post but I have only chosen the items that I genuinely love and feel work with my home and boys.
