Dining Room Makeover

I think Interior design is a constant learning process. When we painted our dining room Blue last year we knew that it would make the room dark but we didn’t really anticipate what that would mean. From the hallway it made the room seem very cave like and actually it wasn’t the great family dining area I had hoped for. The boys couldn’t sit and do colouring in unless it was midday as it was just too dark or full of artificial light.

So with Christmas approaching I really wanted to repaint the walls and skirting boards to make it a room we wanted to be in again. Especially as when we first moved in it was my favourite room.

We painted the walls in Laura Ashley Pale Dove Grey because we love its chalky finish and have it already in our lounge and hallway.

The room still needs new wood flooring but as we have started the process of changing the roof for an upstairs bathroom this is going to have to wait.

So here’s some pictures of the room so far.

I really love how it has turned out. I’m enjoying its simplicity at the moment but will no doubt want to dress it more after Christmas.

Let me know what you think!
