Picking Your Battles.

I think a core element of parenting is just finding ways to make life easier. It definitely is for me anyway. An ideal day for me is a balance between not having to get cross about anything and also not locking myself in the toilet to cry.

I think it’s important to pick your battles. So yes, yesterday I did agree to rehome a red leaf and yes today I did agree to take said leaf back to his family. Despite really feeling like I don’t want to parent we drove back to the tree where he was found and said our goodbyes. I know it sounds mental but actually  I didn’t have a valid enough reason to say no and this leaf play seemed to come from a really good emotional place for a two year old.

Also as a side note it was an excuse to get some air and stop the mummy ‘all I do is iron’ blues that I have been feeling this week.

As part of the ‘picking your battles’ thing I have a confession to make. I can’t get my children to drink water. I didn’t encourage it early enough and now they outright refuse to drink it. Harbor is only allowed to take water to school so he doesn’t drink all day which is stressing me out in all kinds of ways. Needless to say we drink a lot of squash and milk in our house.

So when a local company asked if I wanted to try Joosed! Junior drinks I felt really excited. I always worry about the sugar content  in these Carton drinks and whether actually I am making healthy enough choices for the boys.

Joosed! Junior is just fruit juice mixed up with British spring water, counts towards one of your 5 a day and contains no added sugar, colourings or flavourings. So at least I can feel a bit better about what they are drinking.

They have just launched in Waitrose and if you are local you can find them in the good old Cotswold farm park. (among a few other places) Also, and something that is important to me, they are a family business. Especially around this time of year I love to shop small and put penny’s into the pockets of independent traders. (I’m a huge NOTHS fan)

I always make a point of tasting what the boys have and these drinks are lovely.

Harbor said ‘Wow where have all these drinks from? Tesco?’ When I told him they were from Waitrose he said ‘Is that the posh one you get flowers from?’

Well now it’s flowers and juice. Im always aspiring to do the ‘big shop’ there 😂.
