Interior Design Workshop

I’m a pretty down to earth person most of the time. Yet when it comes to interiors I have the tendency to feel like I definitely know best. It’s probably the one thing I struggle to back down on.

So when I was invited to attend an interior design workshop I definitely arrived expecting not learn anything.

Lauren Gilberthorpe was taking the workshop and wasn’t the flamboyant, over the top character I was expecting. I guess that is me stereotyping interior designers but with me being such a know it all I guess I like to put them in an ‘unapproachable, I don’t need you’ box. She was so lovely and it became clear very quickly that she had a wealth of knowledge that I wanted to soak up like a sponge.

The workshop was at the stunning Upcote Barn which is commonly used for weddings that I didn’t, before today, know that it existed.

The day covered various things from drawing rooms to scale all the way through to styling a space. It felt so good to be away from the children and with like minded people who also thought that talking about the difference between Farrow and Ball Cornforth White and Off White was a fab way to spend a Saturday.

We also had some amazing food from Siobhan Wolton. Which seemed like the perfect accompaniment to the gorgeous barn surroundings.

I came home with so many new plans. It was really good to come away with a new idea about how to make our house reach it’s full potential. So watch this space! (I think I’m gonna need Lauren on speed dial though!)
