Tonic Broadway

I am a wimp. When I walk into places like Space NK or the beauty hall of Harvey Nics I keep my head low and shop fast. I’m aware that I used to work for Jo Malone so I should feel comfortable with the beauty consultants approach but it terrifies me.

I worry they’ll take one look at me and think ‘she definitely doesn’t use eye cream’ (which I don’t) and tut before giving me the lecture.

So when I heard a new store in Broadway had just opened that sold cosmetics and was independently run I was so excited.

So I contacted Liz at Tonic and asked if I could pop in for a manicure. Let me tell you now I went in my usual nervous self but I walked away (only because my parking ticket had run out) wanting to be Liz’ new best friend.

She really is great at what she does. I had OPI ‘Lincoln Park After Dark’ varnish applied.

Afterwards she helped me with some skincare and gave me a mini makeover. In the little time I was there I learnt so many little tips. My favourite being – apply eyebrow pencil against the direction of the hair and then comb your brows after. It creates such a soft gorgeous look.

They also sell some gorgeous furniture too.

Liz used Artdeco make up on me which is a brand I hadn’t heard of before. Obviously a combination of Liz and the make up but I came out looking the best I had in years. I would compare it to Shu Uemura in terms of quality and price point. Although I’m a brand snob, I am definitely converted and will be heading back on payday to buy the foundation. And no I’m not paid to say that!

I came away with some lovely samples to try and also these goodies.

I had the loveliest morning, it was so relaxed and I learnt so much.I’d love for you all to give Liz a follow on Instagram and support local independent business’. Even better if you could pop in!
