Living Room Tour

This room is the opposite of my moody blue dining room. It is very much a work in progress so excuse the empty spaces and ‘it’s fine to keep your shoes on’ carpet.

I have been inspired since my trip to Hyde Barn for a wedding. They mixed traditional cottage with Mid century furniture and for me it was just perfect.

Our sofa is the Laura Ashley Kingston which has BHS cushions on. I just ordered pink and totally shrugged at Si’s ‘they are very girly’ comment. To be honest I’m at the point where he knows it’s too expensive to divorce me so he’ll have to sit on my cushions and just die quietly on the inside.

Si is so funny about sofas. He likes to pop his head into the lounge and ask me to rotate cushions so not to make one flatter than the other. (The joys of a heavy wife)

So let’s talk mid century furniture. I’ve been eBay stalking for ercol for ages and I found my first purchase (yes I only have one but when you know you’re obsessed you know)

This desk from Atkin and Thyme is my latest purchase. I want to get another ercol chair to sit I front of it and I might use it as an actual desk. I love Atkin and Thyme because they do next day delivery which is perfect as I’m so impatient!

I still need to purchase an armchair to replace the one I have temporarily brought down from our bedroom.

My ideal choice would be this one from however it’s out of my price range unfortunately.

I also want an ottoman instead of a coffee table. I am in love with this Swoon editions one.

We also need to replace the carpet. I’d love wooden flooring but I think while the kids are little it’s good for them to be able to sit on the floor (and not my cream sofa)
